Cape Neddick (Nubble) Light

York, ME

Commonly known as “Nubble Light” because of the rock outcroppings of the small island it sits on, this popular lighthouse dates back to 1879.

The strange rock formations challenge imaginations to find peoples faces in the shapes.  One rock is called Washington Rock because so many visitors see the first president’s face in the shape.

This light is forty feet tall, but is set up high on a hill giving her an elevation of eighty-eight feet above the sea.

She shows a flashing red light every six seconds.
