Cape Cod Light A
chatham, maSSACHUSETTS
The official name of this popular lighthouse is Highland Light, but is better known as Cape Cod Light.
She was built in 1797 atop one hundred foot bluffs and over five hundred feet inland to protect her from the ravages of the Atlantic Ocean. However, in 1996, because of erosion and the danger of losing this great treasure to the sea, she was moved further inland to a safer place.
Cape Cod Light stands one hundred and eighty-three feet above sea level and her light can be seen from twenty-three miles away.
If you get the chance, this light is worth the visit!
